The error message looks like it is getting triggered because the transcoder is dying.
The transcoder looks like it is dying because it can’t read data fast enough/at all:
May 26, 2017 21:26:41.871 [5276] DEBUG - [TranscodeOutputStream] Timed out waiting for data May 26, 2017 21:26:41.871 [5276] DEBUG - Removed transcode output stream 09050A20, active count 1 => 0 May 26, 2017 21:26:41.887 [7240] ERROR - Throttle: timed out trying to read chunk 5
Is where the transcoder is dying which is very shortly after the transcoder get’s called: May 26, 2017 21:26:41.825 [3680] DEBUG - Job running: *removed*
Normally, when this happens mid stream I would look at a corrupted file causing failed playback. Because it looks like it’s dying almost immediately, it looks like it isn’t getting any of the data from the remote drive. With that being said, it looks like the stream is flat out dying and not actually playing but in your initial message you said it would play for a bit, buffer, then play again?
I am not sure if this is related, but you also have entries pointing to a possible permission issue when your logs are trying to be copied over by the server:
May 26, 2017 21:24:52.789 [8696] ERROR - Couldn’t copy file C:\Users\Jeff\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Logs\Plex DLNA Server.3.log to C:\Users\Jeff\AppData\Local\Temp empLogsd1969658-5202-4e5b-b913-d90a9e0743f4\Plex DLNA Server.3.log: boost::filesystem::copy: The request is not supported: “C:\Users\Jeff\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Logs\Plex DLNA Server.3.log”, “C:\Users\Jeff\AppData\Local\Temp empLogsd1969658-5202-4e5b-b913-d90a9e0743f4\Plex DLNA Server.3.log”
The file has played some then stopped and on other occasions just not played. I’ve been testing for a couple hours so I might have my explanation a little muddled.
The file isn’t corrupt because if I play through PMP it works flawlessly. Unfortunately this then cuts out my TV connected via PS4 and my Android phone or tablet when I’m in a different room. I’m not sure about the logs file permission error. The drive is configured to give Everyone Full Control as I having trouble with Sonarr days ago.
I’m adding some more logs from where I’ve tried to watch a file and after a while cancelled. FWIW, I could watch the file over the network if i access it directly immediately afterward.
My NAS where the media is stored is connected to my router via dual NICs set up as an aggregated link (Balance XOR). Would it be better to break the link and use only one NIC? Even though my media is stored on the NAS and accessed via network, I thought my setup would be OP network wise for my requirements.
Forgive my impatience but with no further response thus far I updated PMS to Plex Pass Version 1.7.1.3856.
PS4 and Android clients return server not powerful enough error. Task Manager on server shows CPU utilization doesn’t exceed 20% overall and the PlexTranscoder.exe process doesn’t exceed 15%.
If I try to play the same file directly on PS4 from USB, the video plays but error indicating audio not supported.
Temporarily connected laptop with PMP installed. Plays flawlessly. Further indication issue is with EAC3 transcoding?
I took a quick look at your logs and would like you to try a quick test for me. Post logs here after the test. Just drag and drop the zip file right into the message.
Create a directory called “Transcode” right off your c:\ root directory. c:\Transcode.
Next go into Settings/Transcoder and click the button Show Advanced. You should see an option called “Transcoder temporary directory”.
Set this option to “C:\Transcode” and save the page.
Stop and restart the server and test again.

My quick guess: trying to transcode on an underpowered CPU with an 1895 Passmark rating. Many peoples’ cell phones are more powerful than that.
Off the shelf consumer NAS appliances are low-end and suck for transcoding.
Kindly do not troll and snipe in threads you are not a part of.

The CPU performing the transcoding is an i7 7700 with a pass mark of 10802.

Calro
Done.
Tested against web player in Chrome on server. Same “Server not powerful enough” error. Hopefully the logs shed some light.
EDIT:
Sorry I didn’t realise the logs hadn’t finished uploading when I posted. Then the upload failed.
Upside is gave me time to quickly try the same thing against the test library previously created that has media files stored directly on the server. This should show first the error against the library stored on NAS then against local library.
First PLEASE turn off VERBOSE logging. This should only be used if asked to use it. It’s just adds noise to the file.
You have what appears to be some type of permission problem reading the ERRORs in the log. Here is another quick test you can do. Go to control panel and uninstall Plex Server. After it completes reinstall the server again.
This will keep all settings. I’ve seen this help before although i’m not sure in this case. But it’s very easy to do and worth a shot.
Would you by any chance be open to a Team Viewer session?

Done. I made one extra change based on the permission problem you cited. I enabled full Read/Write access for guest users on NAS.
Good news is it can now play to web and Android client if I pause any downloads running from VM on server.
Is it normal that I can’t be downloading 1mb/s while Plex is streaming? Still I’m happy to be able to utilise PS4 as primary client again.
Would you by any chance be open to a Team Viewer session?
If not being able to download 1mb/s while streaming over the same CAT6 line at never more than 20mb/s sounds strange to you, yes please. Thinking it may have to do with network config of Hyper-V VM utilised on download box. E.g. download are coming to VM then going straight back over the line across network to come back to same physical device but different drive.
Either way I think the Plex side of things may now be sorted. Pending outcome of logs analysis of course. Thanks
You still have a couple of errors but they are media related and not permission caused errors.
It’s not unusual to see errors from time to time. For example you pull down a jpg image and it’s a bad jpg. Media that has contradictory information, etc. So not all ERRORs are equal and you need to read the lines around them to see how it coped with it.
I left this open for a day to ensure this wasn’t a temporary reprieve as previously experienced. Unfortunately it appears it was and this time it’s not just EAC3.
Attached logs.
Note I attempted to watch from Android client and web client directly on sever and got the same result with every network service from devices disabled.
