After update to plexamp headless 4.12.4 FLAC playback stuttering

Hello there

After updating to plexamp 4.12.4 headless on my pi zero 2w the other day, FLAC or WAV audio no longer plays without stuttering. In the web player it looks like it is buffering. Whenever it is skipping/stuttering/buffering I sometimes see this in the logs, but not always so it may be a red herring:

I have no trouble playing MP3s. Could it be a buffering problem (i.e. slow network downloads)? When I watch on the Plex server dashboard, I do see “Buffering,” I just did not have this issue until 4.12.4. Not ruling out environmental issues (poor wifi signal, internet dropping packets, etc) but it is odd that it started happening after the last update.

I’m thinking more and more that this morning it is a network problem. I just ran a speedtest on the pi and was getting 1.17Mbps down when I have a 300Mbps connection. I’ll report back after solving the network issue if the issue persists.

Yup, seems to be network related :-/ I’m getting 13.67 Mbps down now and no buffering through an entire song. Maybe the pi zero 2w is not the best choice for plexamp :-/

WiFi on those smaller devices can be a bit fraught. Maybe try something like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6R8xhSzpJTU
