It occurs in the Edge web browser on Windows 10. The lastpass extension has been installed, no other extensions. Tried to get it work in the chrome browser, there it worked apparently. Before, it worked in Edge as well.
I can only assume that something in Edge has changed.
Whatever it is, it is outside of the web app’s influence.
Sometimes, the DRM subsystem takes offense at the presence of certain audio device drivers (Virtual Audio Cable for instance), or the absence of encryption in the digital screen connection.
I understand you can find out if DRM is operable in Chromium based browsers.
Unfortunately, there are even at least 2 different DRM schemes in use. So you might perhaps have one enabled, but are missing the other which consequentially makes only certain websites work but not all of them.
See what comes up in about:config and look for items named like “DRM”, “WideVine”, or “PlayReady”.

Thanks for your guidance. It appears indeed that something has changed in Edge. In Chrome, it still works on multiple pc’s. I checked the settings in Edge, but did not found a solution yet. Even when the “play protected content” switch is on, I get the issue. Installing the Plex player would be a solution, however on my work laptop I am not allowed to install applications. Hence, the use of the web client for playing music during work
