Hello. I´ve just installed the new Plex server version 1.40.5.8921 and all the agents are gone. And I can’t add them. I have no option to add them on the agent section. Please, could you help me ?
If your server is Android TV (nVidia Shield), then there is no way to re-add them; they’ve been permanently disabled. This change will come to other servers as well. Plex has repeatedly claimed that they’ll have a replacement before they disable things (which makes you wonder why bother disabling things on Android TV before having a replacement, but I digress). What OS is your server running on?
On Windows 10. Sorry, I read that the way to add the agents changed and now it’s needed to do for each library. I solved it doing a rollback on the version, and now it’s working as expected. There’s a bug on the new version about this.

I feel you might be talking about some different aspect.
Where exactly where you trying to add/set a different agent?
All that I know is that I install the new server version. After that I added a movie to my library and it was not recognized. I tried to refresh the metadata and the option was not available. Up to now, the agents where on the agent menu itself and there is where you can manage them. Right now, this setup is done for each library. What I did is a rollback of the server version, and the refresh metadata button was avaiable again and I could identify the movie as expected.
At some point, Plex had been pushing for users to upgrade their libraries to use the current-generation Plex agents. When you did that, you can no longer pick one of the legacy agents as an alternative source within the same library.
If you’re having trouble matching a movie or show, you could instead search for it using its respective identifier, e.g. imdb-tt1234567, tmdb-1234 or tvdb-5678 — these so called hints won’t make Plex using the metadata from that particular repository but help matching it. With the current-generation Plex agents you can also include these hints in the file / directory names.
Yep, that’s clear and this is how it’s working on version 1.40.5.8897-e5987a19d. Nevertheless and according with my first post, this is not working on version 1.40.5.8921
