Plex Media Server Logs_2025-08-04_14-27-44.zip (187.8 KB)

After almost a year I used again Plex, but I noticed it wasn’t working as intended. Basically I used external agents to build my library and when I tried to update it, I noticed it wasn’t doing anything.

Looking further I noticed no agents shows up in the “Agents (legacy)” page

Meaning not even the ability to adjust the position of the local media assets (precisation, ALL tabs looks like that in the image above, it’s not just for movies).

I tried to install even the beta version with no luck. I then tried to see if this was something “common” in every build, so I installed plex server on windows, but here it works, I see the agents.

I completely removed the plex media server, meaning restoring to system version of the nvidia shield and deleting all datas (which start with version: 1.41.3.9269), but with said system version the server doesn’t even start, I need to upgrate it at least at version 1.41.4 to start it, but still the agents are missing.

Looking online I even tried using adb to force install a previous version, meaning older than system version, but I get INSTALL_FAILED_VERSION_DOWNGRADE.

Basically I tried everything but agents doesn’t want to show up using the nvidia shield as server.

The Legacy Agents (Shown in your two screenshots) have been removed from the Sheild version of PMS:

That note should instruct you on upgrading to the new agents in Plex. Here are two more detailed notes:

https://support.plex.tv/articles/upgrading-a-movie-library-to-the-use-the-new-plex-movie-agent/

https://support.plex.tv/articles/migrating-a-tv-library-to-use-the-new-plex-tv-series-agent-scanner/

They’ve said that the Legacy agents will be removed from all versions of Plex Media Server in the future but have not given a date. I don’t know why they aren’t getting it done.

Hope this helps,

Chris

I already read all that, sorry but this is a bug specificately with nvidia shield version.

Those that you see in screenshot are basic plex agents, not some custom I added.

I keep reading “eh but it’s because it will be removed”. No, it’s a bug, over a year of plex version (because the system version of nvidia shield is a year old) and still no agents, all the others versions it works, why? It’s clearly a bug, but others that ask the same thing get replied with same post.

It absolutely makes no sense that over a year of plex server on nvidia shield has this problem (again I tried even older versions) while ALL the others platform it works just fine. So please, can I have some real plex support that check on this bug?

It says “Legacy” for a reason. This settings page is only relevant for legacy agents, which no longer exist on the Shield. (And which will be gone as well from other platforms in the not-so-distant future.)

All related settings of the current agents are to be found in the properties of your libraries, on the Advanced tab.

So you are saying that Shield got this WAY before everyone else? Again, we are talking about a year. Can I ask why? And are we TRULY sure it’s not just a bug that affect only shield? I understand the “it will be dismissed”, but I don’t understand this specific ONLY for shield.

I would understand it started happening a month ago, but we are talking about a year distance with only shield being affected

Yes, it was removed specifically on nVidia’s request.

Ah… At least I got a satisfactory answer. Thanks
