AI upsampling question

I know in previous posts plex for sure does the new Nvidia ai 4k upsampling in the shield 2019 but my question was does this only affect the tv it is hooked to?

I was wondering if it extended at all to anyone connecting to my plex server via the web app, the plex client on another shield without upsampling or the android app.

Nvidia said it’s separate ai hardware built into the new Tegra X1+ chip doing the encoding and cleanup so I wondered if where it displayed mattered once it runs through the encoder.

I use the web app alot so if it could clean up during transcodes that would be amazing!

The AI is for playback on TVs from various sources. It doesn’t affect Plex Media Server to other Plex clients.

Thanks! It’s a shame though, it would make for a killer feature if the upsampled stream is what outside clients see.

If it’s passing the transcoding stream through the api for the Nvidia ai upsampling hardware in the shield os the api output wouldn’t necessarily have to be to the physical host screen.

It is right now but it wouldn’t have to be

Anyways thanks for the reply!
