AirPlay stops after one video if iPhone is locked or Plex app is running in the background

I have a playlist of music videos. I’ll AirPlay the playlist to an AppleTV. Everything works correctly if my iPhone is unlocked. If I lock my iPhone or minimize the Plex app, the playlist will stop once the current music video ends. Any idea how to prevent this?
