ALAC not playing over DNLA

My Plex is on a Mac, with the files on a Hard Drive.

I have enabled DLNA to be able to stream these files to the Yamaha MusicCast app.

The app is not able to play the ALAC files. It does play MP3 files.

I have troubleshooted with Yamaha and they confirmed the problem is not on their end, by using other DNLA softwares. " I agree that according to Plex’s website, the ALAC files should play, but alas they do not. With ALAC over DLNA working with other media servers, and the issue persisting on non-Yamaha DLNA renderers, the blame can only be placed on the Plex software."

Any ideas?

I am running Plex with DLNA enabled on a Synology NAS and am experiencing similar behavior. I can play FLAC files, but not ALAC on my Onkyo receiver. Using a different DLNA server, I can play both ALAC and FLAC.
