Server Version#: 1.40.5
Player Version#: 4.11.1
I am running above server on macOS 14.6. PlexAmp for playing works great. However, I also wish to run the DLNA as well to a Yamaha TSR-700. So, I turned on DLNA. The Yamaha app shows my entire ALAC music collection meta data, covers, etc. but when I pick a song, it says “Unable to play”.
I found an old mp3 and it does play (same folder as ALACs). So the DLNA Plex option is not allowing ALAC files to be sent in such a way (or at all) to be played on the Yamaha via DLNA.
I read it might be that the default protocol is missing the ALAC format. So I added in http-get::audio/x-m4a: to the list. This did nothing. Note: restarting or hard restarting all during each troubleshooting step also did nothing.
I called Yamaha and they concluded, it is not the Yamaha, which played the mp3 via PLEX DLNA server and otherwise plays ALACs (indeed, PlexAmp does play ALAC fine to it) by all other types of music server or streaming. But this is a DLNA bug.
What is the fix to the Plex server to allow this Yamaha AVR to play ALAC files via DLNA other than not using Plex and changing to a different media server like JellyFin, etc. on macOS?
