So I use plexamp and connect via bluetooth to my car, but something that’s always bothered me is that it never displays the album artwork. How can I get it to do this? I have artwork nested within the folders of the files themselves and also artwork is recognized in plex and the app, but that doesn’t seem to ‘beam’ the artwork to my dash like i’d hoped. SiriusXM seems to do this without an issue on my dash (see screenshot) but when playing plexamp (or plex app) the album art is just blank. How can this be done?
Unfortunately that’s between Bluetooth and your car’s head unit, we do everything we can on our end to pass album art along.
So is there a setting or something that I don’t have enabled? or you’re saying that because the head unit doesn’t accept the metadata that the artwork can’t be displayed?
I sort of don’t understand why this isn’t possible.
Yeah it would generally be a head unit limitation.
not trying to be argumentative here, i just still don’t understand why not if xm radio can ‘beam’ album artwork metadata via satellite , why can’t the metadata also be ‘beamed’ from the phone to the radio?
A quick google search brought up Tools to automatically manage your radio's metadata
Based on this website and just general I.T. experience (but very limited knowledge in this area) , It looks like artwork can be sent just via http udp and tcp protocols which is pretty much happening with the music anyway…but also goes on to say ‘Radioplayer, TuneIn, DTS AutoStage, or to HTTP and FTP servers,’ are the supported platforms…. I know in my specific truck, the name Uconnect is mentioned frequently… I assume that is the name of the OS in my truck.
So are we saying that because the Uconnect software does not accept artwork transmissions via bluetooth that it may not be possible?
