Album versions

I know this has been asked before, but I was interested if there were any new methods for handling album versions (standard, remasters, extended and deluxe). Currently they all show up as double in sections like most played and high rated. I’ve changed the album title but as the metadata still has the same ID, they appear as the same. Roon’s approach works well, but for that price it bloody well should (I was just trialing it, I have no intention of paying that much to play my own stuff)

It would be nice to have this the way plex handles movie versions. But I don’t think there is a better way than what is already out there.

I have tried and use a combination of setting the release type and release status meta tags for remixes and eps and live albums.

For different versions like remaster. I have unmatched an album or fix match an album. Sometimes that works but only if the metadata agent has metadata and an entry for the album you have standard and remaster versions for.

If you haven’t tried yet, try to unmatch the album, do a refresh of metadata and and see if it separates the albums or shows them as different.

Other than that the other thing I have also tried is added the words -extended- in the album sort field/tag. That sometimes helps. But if you are letting Plex match your metadata be sure to lock the fields.

Take a look at this thread: I have three different editions of the same music album. Plex mixes them up. How can I separate them
