I have a few shows that are at it, when available, to the TV show section of Plex. I can go to the current TV show and create a playlist but it does not add new shows to the playlist as they are made available. I have to go in each week as a new episode is made available and add it to the current playlist.
My question is, is there a way that Plex could automatically search new episodes for a particular show and add them to the playlist? So I could automatically put them in my queue to watch? Otherwise I have to search the show by name every week in order to spot new episodes.
It’s not really off-topic, because you could use a smart playlist to do that.
But I ask @bitteronthefruit : which client type are you using?
Because all the clients I use have this hub on their main page where you can see new episodes of shows you have watched in the past, called On Deck.
And then there is the hub called ‘Recently added TV Shows’.
And then there is the Plex feature which adds a show into On Deck if a new season has begun – even if you haven’t watched the show for several months.
If you are after a real ‘Alert’, you could take a look at Tautulli and its Notification/Mailing features.
