Just Got Alexa echo and wanted to be able to play my playlist that is currently on Plex but in the Apple plugin. I am unable to ask Alexa to open Apple plug in on plex and play relevant playlist. Is this even possible?
The Plex Skill does not work with plugins.
That is a real shame. Really throttling the use of the app with alexa.
Alexs works with your PMS. Plugins, although they run inside of Plex Media Server are self standing programs. Plex has no idea of what content is available in the plugin until you actually click on something to play. There is no way Alexa could find the content either since Alexa can’t “click” around PMS to find what it needs. If the plugins were made in a way that they added their content to Plex’s database, then it might be possible to have Alexa identify that content and play it back. It’s really a limitation of how plugins work and not something Plex deliberately disabled.
I was only wanting Alexa to play the apple playlist, it is a shame that this cant be exported regularly and automated to a plex playlist
