Alexa for Plex multi volume album playback problems

I use Plex for Alexa for music playback on echo dot and echo input devices. I cannot get plex to properly playback multiple albums volumes.

Eg: It’s A Rockabilly Riot (Vol. 1) and It’s A Rockabilly Riot (Vol. 2) or Classic Punk (Vol One) and Classic Punk (Vol Two)

“Alexa tell Plex to play the album” no matter how I phrase it Plex will always play It’s A Rockabilly Riot (Vol. 2).

I have renamed to (vol one), (Volume 1), tried Vol.1, 1 , One but it makes no difference.

If I remove Vol 1 entirely then plex will not play Vol 2 when requested.

Is there a proper way to name multiple album volumes so Alexa for Plex can recognize and play them.

Get the mp3tag free software. There is a field called Discnumber for each song. Make it a “1” for all disc 1 songs, “2” for disc 2 and so on.

When you have a compilation album, be sure to make the Album Artist field say “Various Artists” on each track (don’t put the quote marks in on any of the fields).

Make sure the Track# fields are OK. They probably are.

Once you have done all that, dump all of the tracks into the Vol 1 folder. Get rid of the empty folders, then rename the remaining folder as the album title, minus the “Vol 1” text.

Plex should then put it all together for you.

The albums in question are volumes released separately, sometimes years apart that I would prefer to keep separate.
I don’t recall having this issue in the past

I have the exact same issue. It is super annoying. A real fix from Plex would be great.

This issue still persists. There has to be more than two of us with this problem.

in situations like this where I can’t get the echos to play the album I want, Using the plex app on my phone I create a plex playlist called Now which only contains the album in question.

I then say Alexa tell plex to play the playlist Now

not ideal but does work

I also noticed with eg: “now thats what I call music” album series that plex will only play the first album listed alphabetically and ignore all others no matter how you phrase the request.

I now use mymedia for alexa for music playback and it does not have this issue.
