Alexa only works on primary user

Man I was all excited and ready to play with Alexa and come to find it only supports my user. No managed users are supported. Is there a way to switch to a managed user? Would be great as I use a managed user for everyone in the family to keep movies and shows separate so users have their own watched and unwatched. Please say I am just missing a command.

I’ve found the same issue! I’ve not used the primary account for years for a few reasons… really need a way to default to a user like it does for servers and players!

I found this also, I only use the primary account to tag media for sharing…

This is already stated in the list of current limitations on the Plex Alexa support page

That article appears to have a publication date of today unless it’s an updated date, however this information was absent in the initial comma and setup process… it is however good to see something that provides clarity and not rely of guesswork or trawling forums…

Okay will it ever support Plex Home/Fast User Switching or is it just not going to be feasible because of how Alexa works?

I have no information on this other than the statement that is already on the support page which says

We have plans to expand the features and capability, but for now, these are the known limitations

I would assume the current limitation is Plex or the code they currently have in place rather Alexa thankfully which would mean only development in the Plex team…

The Alexa integration is pretty useless (for me at least) with this limitation. I normally watch movies with my kids and they like to use their managed accounts to keep up with their watched history.
