My Alexa Plex skill can play a playlist when asked. But if I ask it to play an album it responds that I do not appear to have any media. I am running Plex on a Synology system. Everything works as expected from my Android plex player, Windows Plex app, Firestick Plex app, and web browser plex connection.
What do I need to do to get albums to “appear”?
What do you have set here?
Looks the same but I do not have Sonic analysis and prefer local metadata checked.
Just the visibility box. I discovered that Alexa requires the “Visible in global search” option to be able to find and play our music. Playlists are probably shuffled under a kind of separate library called “playlists” that might have global access regardless of the library’s own “visibility”.
Well, that was my only idea. Sorry, maybe someone else has an idea. I use Alexa occasionally, and I have no problems using it to ask for “SONG A” or “GROUP B”.
Perhaps try reconnecting your Plex skill to Alexa again? I had to do that to get it working after I changed account passwords when Plex asked us to.
Turns out I can ask alexa to play a track by name. So I can get her to play tracks and playlists but not albums.
Update:
Seems I can get her to play “some” albums. The one I was trying to play is a newly added album, so maybe that is a clue?
Update 2:
I tried several different albums including all the recently added ones. The only one that generated the no media message was Preservation Hall: A Tuba To Cuba. So I went in and edited the artist and title. (Just re-typed what was presumably already there.) Now I can get alexa to play the album.
Update 3 (unfortunately):
Today Alexa can’t find media again if I ask her to ask Plex to play “a Tuba to Cuba” I have done nothing to the server since the above success. She can still play playlists and at least one other album. (That is all I tried before updating this thread.)
