About a week ago i noticed all my libraries were missing, along with all my playlists. I found several posts about the same issue, however, all of them mention changing the location of their media files or appdata files. I have done neither.
Now my PMS appears offline to all my players. My server is still running and all my plugins remain in the server settings. All my cache and metadata information are still in the c:\users\username\appdata\local folder they have always been.
Based on other posts I explored the possibility that the pms.exe was running as another user. I have been using task scheduler to launch PMS at system boot but running it as my user account. Its been running like that for years without issue. Recently Windows 10 did a big update, I thought perhaps that broke something. So I checked regedit for ProcessedMachineIdentifier key and I found 3 of them. They all appear under the HK_Users section of regedit. PMS.exe is still running as the same user it always has but from the other posts I should apparently only have one ProcessedMachineIdentifier key in the regedit.
The keys are located here: 1. HKEY_USERS.DEFAULT\Software\Plex, Inc.\Plex Media Server <–user is .default ??? 2. HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Plex, Inc.\Plex Media Server <–user is %systemroot%\system32\config\systemprofile 3. HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2420737378-3969466356-80845300-1000\Software\Plex, Inc.\Plex Media Server <–my user account
Can someone please point me to which logs I should look through or if I can safely remove the first two ProcessedMachineIdentifier keys? There are a lot of logs and I’m not sure what to search for.
Thanks!!
