Hello all, I’m new to Plex and absolutely love it so far. I had an issue that I cant find in the forums anywhere. I spent an entire day yesterday setting up all my media (adding libraries, matching, adding posters… making it look good). When I woke up this morning, ALL of my libraries had been removed. Now I have to do it all again. What could have caused this and how can I avoid this in the future?
Try a reboot of the server machine.
What platform is your server running on?
I am running on Win 10. I’ve already started adding the libraries again, will that affect it?
Restarted. No change.
This usually happens when Plex is started under a different Windows user account.
Directly after installation, chances are that Plex ran as e.g. the ‘Administrator’ user. And thus all your libraries will show up if you start Plex server as the same Windows user under which you performed the installation.
But if you already started adding your libraries again, then I’d say let it finish that.
If you routinely switch user accounts under Windows and you don’t want Plex server get influenced by that, think about running Plex as a Windows system service.
“If you want to run the service under a different account, Then you should first move your Plex application data folder to a common folder (Personally I have mine on a second drive of my server “D:\Plex”).”
I did read this snippet from that article that may have been the culprit. I have limited space on my OS SSD so once i realized that all of the meta data was being stored there, I moved the files to my larger 2TB drive. It didn’t have an issue with it at all last night, but when I woke, I had to log in (probably meaning my computer restarted because of an update (which I had a update notification upon logging in)). Thank You for the article.
