Still having server remains of old PMS installation. How can I get rid of the old server safely and entirely?

Server Version#: 1.18.0.1846

Hey guys. A couple of weeks ago I recovered my old PMS installation to the same SSD with a fresh installation of Win10 and it seems like there’s something left of the old installation of the PMS.

Otto Kerner kindly helped me with that, but it seems like there’s still something going wrong (in my registry?!) with the former installation of PMS.

In my panic of saving the server lately (the old Windows was unbootable) i didn’t follow any PMS moving guides or how to upgrade to a new hard drive. I just copied/pasted the files, which might have to do with it.

However, if anybody could help me get rid entirely of the old installation, that would be huge! I still have 2 times the “same” server on all of my apps displayed (Server one = V2; new and current server = ServingYou-Server). If anybody could help me with that I’d be so grateful, as I think there’s something going wrong and slowing down the current installation pretty heavily. Please see my little screenshot attached:

if you didn’t actually sign out before uninstalling then plex.tv just thinks it is offline.

settings>authorized devices, use the drop down to just look at servers. remove it by clicking red X.

Hey man!

Thanks for your advice! It was not the solution, but it ultimately lead me to the solution. It seems like not the old PMS installation was the culprit, but the Tautulli one, which was somehow connected to the old installation - of course, somehow. I assigned it to the new server et voíla - all good! It seems like Plex Web now significantly loads quicker. That was the bummer in the first place. Homescreen would sometimes load 10+ seconds, all gucci now, thanks buddy

Hey me again. Seems like this didn’t do the trick either, unfortunately. I was happy for 15 minutes, but I’ve been running into the same issue like weeks ago. I don’t f*cking get it. I’ve done all the guide Otto advised me to do locally, remotely, gayly and happily, nothing.

These were his advises:

None of it helped so far in various variations. If this would suit the forum rules better, we could go over to my original post from the links provided above. I’m desperate about it. Now not getting into my server at all. As soon as I hit “Connect server to Plex” I’m back to zero and locked out. INSANE

I can only imagine how frustrating that is for weeks. I’ve been reading along during that time, and I was hoping Otto and you would get it sorted.

In light of the time spent, should you consider moving on to the idea of setting up a new Plex Media Server from scratch with no media. Then you would add your videos to it like you had never used Plex before?

I would be hard pressed to value some old metadata over the two weeks tbh.
Let us know what you’re thinking.

Hey nibbles.

I’m indeed a bit helpless, as nothing seems to work. It just seems to me, that there’re multiple servers and I, excuse my noob-ish explanation, cannot assign the correct server to the existing libraries. It’s really frustrating indeed :crying_cat_face:

To your suggestions: This would be the last resort, but to be honest I wouldn’t want to set up everything anew. I was just creating BIF files for the past like…2 months and had the server running almost 24/7 to achieve that. Idk. This would’ve been all in vain and if I would have to it would be devastating

Can’t somebody chime in with TeamViewer or something? I’m sure there is a solution to that. I’m limited in time as well, as my (infamous) 2nd son was born yesterday morning (big yay!), so I have other responisbilities atm, yet this Plex desaster is a total bummer

This wheel keeps spinning forever. It says that the server isn’t connected and insecure. That’s where the problem is, but I cannot determine it

Ahh BIF thumbnail previews from every 2 seconds of your videos.
I never enabled that. It seemed ludicrous, but what’s more of a story
is your second add-on. Grats!

Looks like @BigWheel is on it. He’s probably working on Stage 1 pedals this weekend.

Okay, take it easy :beers:

Oh yeah that sounds great and thanks! Have fun BigWheel and congrats as well! :slightly_smiling_face:

So I finally decided to start from scratch. Hurts my heart, but it seems like there’s nothing that could get me out of that Plex Fiasco. My CPU cries one more time. I was just about to finish VPT for ~63k files. I’m crying haha. But it’s sort of a good point to start over again, as I have a couple of days off, so deleting ~3M files has just begun ^^ Cheers

EDIT: And generating VPTs is soooo much faster with v1.18. That’s the easing thought that keeps me hoping
