Server Version#: 1.92.1.140-8e1f68f5
Player Version#: 10.14.0.541 (4f9fb644)
Summary: Everything I’m trying to play is buffering and I can’t find the cause
Server: MINISFORUM NAB6 (i7-12650H, 64GB RAM, 2x 1TB internal SSD mirrored)
Storage: TERRAMASTER D6-320 external HDD enclosure (USB 3.2 gen 2, 10Gbps, 4x 14TB 7200RPM HDD (1x is parity), 1x 12TB 7200RPM HDD)
Network: 1GbE (2x 2.5GbE server NICs are bonded, was initially in mode=1/active-backup and currently in mode=5/balance-tlb)
Player: Nvidia Shield Pro (fully up to date, Plex app reinstalled, connected via GbE)
2nd Player: Windows 11 PC w/ Plex desktop app
Running into buffering issues in all video content including 1080P and 4K. 1080p 8mbps buffers, forced transcode to 720p 4mbps and buffers just as much.
Issue is present whether direct playing or transcoding, though forcing transcode seems to help a bit sometimes. Subtitles on or off doesn’t affect. iGPU passed through properly, didn’t affect when removed from config.
SFTP transfer directly to the Shield from my server easily hits ~50-150MB/s so network shouldn’t be a bottleneck. Same with my PC where issue is also present.
Initially noticed issue present when Plex generated thumbnails, detected intros, etc. but still present when no visible tasks running. Server has plenty of CPU and RAM headroom.
Sometimes after restarting the app on my Shield, issue goes away for a bit but buffering is still much slower than expected. e.g. Plex settings have buffer set to 1200 seconds but it rarely goes a couple minutes past the current play point.
