I am trying to watch a movie or a show on ( watch it now ) or history or discovery channels, or any other channel. the show preview picture shows than when I try to click play it thinks then shows, this channel not responding. I have windows 8 pro have firefox and or internet exployer a crazy fast computer and I use comcast 89 megs of speed and I am a plexpass subcriber.
Channels can be hit or miss. Some channels seem to be perpetually broken I don’t think I have ever been able to use The History Channel, but have at times been able to stream some content from The Discovery Channel. Some channels are region restricted and some channels work fine on one client, but not another. e.g. for myself, CBS works fine on Rasplex, but not on FireTV or the Web App (using Chrome).
Channel related questions are best suited for the Channels Forum. Take a look in that forum to see what channels are working and on what clients.
Plex Web using the Firefox or Chrome browser are not the best Plex player apps to use for accessing Plex channels. Many websites these days are choosing to offer their content in HLS format and Firefox and Chrome have very limited codec support for HLS so Plex channels that provide HLS content may not play on those browsers. (PBS is the only Plex channel that uses HLS and works for me from the Plex Web app with the Firefox or Chrome browser)
Also make sure your region is set properly so the Channel Directory will only show channels that will work in your region. See Region Settings
Plex Media Server can transcode the HLS media available from many Plex channels, but you would need to refer to the Plex Web section of the forum for more information about the Plex Web app and if it will offer transcoding of HLS content in the future.
