I’d like to share my media with my friends, but the server I’m running plex on isn’t very powerful. It can’t do any transcoding. So I’d like to be able to restrict sharing only to the original quality.
Also it would be good if I could enable a setting that would always give preference to my own account’s streams, so that I don’t end up with stuttering if too many people are streaming at once. Maybe a ‘preferred account’ checkbox per user or something.
I am in the same situation, I am ok to share content, bandwith but my server can handle transcoding on multiple user. Or sometime it feels laggy for me even using the plex desktop app.
Was looking for a just allow direct stream for friend option ?
Yes! this feauture would be great. No matter how many times i tell my users not to transcode they keep doing it. They would work out their settings pretty quick if it booted them off everytime they did it.
