Hi all,
I’m sure this has been requested many times, but I would LOVE the ability to increase the playback speed. I use this feature on YouTube all the time and it’s hard to go back.
I understand there are limitations with transcoding, but why not enable this option when direct streaming?
Personally, I want the option to playback video and audio at 1.2x, 1.5x, etc. I know many other Plex users would love this feature as well. Please consider it!

Yes. I second this motion. I am new to Plex coming from AirVideo HD. AirVideo has the option to speed up OR slow down the playback. I loved being able to slow down fast action scenes.
Please add variable playback speeds!
Kodi and VLC also have this feature.
I use this while browsing YouTube for long videos, which would be perfect in plex as I love adding youtube videos and making mixes!
@devs please consider this, even if only for direct stream if necessary. This would be a fantastic feature, especially for audiobooks. I can comfortably listen to podcasts at 2x apparently so when I use plex to play an audiobook it seems especially slow.
I’d even throw money at the problem if it’d help.

I can’t believe than 1 year later this option isn’t developped yet
Except for audio books I do not understand how this would be good for much of anything except for the novelty value. It certainly would not improve my viewing experience.
But everyone has a unique view of the universe.
I just hope, should this get implemented, Plex does not spend resources that are allocated to bug fixes or finishing implemented features just to add this, for most people, unneeded feature.
As someone who often watches TV Shows or Movies at 1.5x this would be really nice. I could ditch downloading/watching with VLC

hell, TIVO even has this feature (140% I want to say) PLEASE add this to the various plex players (especially the roku client)
+1 please. This is good for tutorials and documentaries. Instrumental feature on other playback clients
+1 on this. My number one feature request. Would be a game changer. Right now, to speed up videos on iOS, I need to download them from Plex within the VLC iOS app and then speed up playback that way. Would love it if it were just able to be done right in the Plex app.
