Plex for Desktop removed the ability to be remotely controlled (since 1.46.1), yet its replacement (Plex HTPC) doesn’t allow the audio volume to be remotely controlled like Plex for Desktop allowed.
Please allow remote control of audio volume on all remotely controllable players, or at the very least, give the option to do so.
The volume control either does nothing (Plex app on iOS), or does not appear (Plex app on macOS), when clicking the cast icon (to Plex HTPC on macOS). All using latest version.
Until the feature was removed in 1.46.1 in the Plex app for macOS (now HTPC only), I could both cast and control the volume.
same here. plex media player stopped allowing remote control so now I have to use the much less useful htpc app, but I cant change the volume! there are no sliders and the volume rocker on my phone only controls the volume on the phone.
plex keeps breaking things that worked to push the next new thing that also doesn’t work.
No control especially with an IR Remote, like the old silver metal for Mac computers. On OpenPHT and the old Plex media player, the up/down arrows were working fine to control volume during playback. It is really a major issue not to have this feature. Thanks!
This thread is more about remote controlling the Plex HTPC app using another Plex client (Plex Companion). It appears controlling audio volume has been fixed / implemented since this thread has been created (just tested this when the thread was “revived”.
Unless someone is still seeing the issue described by the OP in June 2022 I suggest we close this as fixed/implemented.
OK, sorry for the misunderstanding. The input mapping does not seem to be involved as debated here, that’s why I was thinking it could look like this issue. So should I open another suggestion?
