I have some shows that have many seasons, but few (i.e. 1-3) episodes per season. I really wish I had an option for that series to show all episodes in a single list and, instead of just having “Episode #” with the title, have “Season #, Episode #” with each title. I’m not sure how this would work with the “endless horizontal row” layout (which I actively dislike, by the way) used on my Roku, LG SmartTV and FireTV, but on things like the Web app that still use a nice looking grid for episodes, this would be GREAT! (IMHO)
If you want an example is IMAX The Ultimate Collection, which I’ve only put a few episodes of each season on my server. (Many times that’s the entire season!)
Thanks, @OttoKerner, I would never have elected to hide all seasons of a show because to me that means only show episodes that weren’t part of a season (i.e. specials, I guess.)
But your suggestion ALMOST works.
With seasons hidden, I now see all of the episodes in a single list … all 20 episode 1s, all 20 episodes 2s, etc. but there is no reference to what season the episode was from as I was hoping with my suggestion. At least, not in the Plex app on Windows 10 – maybe other versions of the app show the season as part of the episode title when seasons are hidden?
With seasons hidden, Plex will still show the original season of an episode when displaying that episodes details page. Plex however assumes you don’t really want to see the season references on the show’s page (hence you configured it to hide them).
You can currently kind-of achieve what you’re looking for with a collection – as long as it’s a collection of episodes (e.g. filtering your library for a certain show name, set it to display episodes and save it as a collection – it doesn’t matter if you use a smart or classic collection).
I guess I must be requesting a non-binary option for seasons. Instead of the simple Hide/Show, I’m wishing for Hide, Show, and “Show all seasons/episodes on a single page (or list or group) instead of season-specific pages.” Hopefully someone else can invent a somewhat shorter name for the option. (smile)
Or perhaps just, Hide, Show, Collection to add an automatic way to have Plex treat the series as if it were a collection of itself (as your example shows). That sounds fine to me.
