Alternative activation?

I’m a teacher. I use Plex for storing and playing music and video content in my classroom using a school google account that is given limited access to my PMS server. I’ve been using the web based player with my laptop connected to a projector. They just got me a fancy new board that runs android. I installed both Plex and PlexAmp no problem. But they both keep asking for activation. Functionally, PlexAmp works fine, but Plex is capped at 60 seconds. Although Plex plays fine on the same account via my laptop, my android tablet, and my android phone.

I cannot (and will not) attach my credit card or paypal to my school Play Store, and logging in at school using my home account does not seem wise. Is there another way I can pay for activation?
Also, why would it work on my other android devices with the same account?
Thanks for any help.

Plex amp does not have a separate activation. Basic functions are free with extras needing a Plex pass.

Activation is only done through the app store. Maybe get a Google Play gift card at a store and add the cost to it which afaik you should be able to use for purchase.

Our desktop and tv apps are free. Why the android mobile app would work on your tablet but not your phone is curious. Could not say without logs from app device. but if you do not have a Plex Pass for the school Plex account nor activated it for the Google Play account you use for school then it should not be.

I’ll give that a try. I’ve got a prepaid visa gift card in my pocket right now. I’ll try that.

To clarify, it does work on webui, phone, and tablet, but not on the Fancy screen. I assumed it’s regular android Plex since it’s an android device, but maybe it’s the TV version.

Well that didn’t work. That google account is not authorized to make any payments. Maybe I need to log into my personal account when I need to show videos at school. But that means I have to type in my password in front of my students on a giant screen. That does not sound like my best idea.

It occurs to me… Does this violate the terms of service? Should I avoid it?
