New to Plex and have a fev question

Hello guys , im new to plex , just buyed me an Android Box TX5 Pro and sync i have installed Plex on it i started to play arround with it a little bit more. For now it gives me exactly that what i want , hosting the server on my pc also with the free versioin “for now” and how no issue so far to stream the library’s to my Android box , laptop with the Windows 10 Store Plex version , Android Phone to.

The thing i would like to know is about the purchase of the Plex app , do one purchase to activate the client app finish it for all sides , or do i have to buy for example when im on my phone to buy it for the 5€ on Google Store , when on Laptop with Windows 10 to buy it again on the Windows 10 Store to be available to use it propertly when im not on the local networks or same network as the server runs.

Is the purchase of one side claiming to my account of plex and then i can use it on all the devices i own or am i wrong , and do i have it to purchase seperatly for each device ?

If i purchase the plex app “also the activation” on google play , will the windows 10 version be activated so i can use it on my laptop too ?

Would like to know that , thanks for reading and your time.

You can’t purchase an app from one app store and get access to an app from another app store. purchases are tied to your app store account not your Plex account.

So that means if i purchase the activation on a google play store , and using the same account ass usual on all my android devices , such as tablets , phones , android boxes , i will have it activated there , only for the Windows 10 Version of the Plex app i have to purchase seperately ?

Im i getting this now right ?

The app checks the app store on the device for a purchase of the app from that app store. if one does not exist it needs be bought for that app store.

You can use a purchase from Google Play on all your Android devices which you are signed into Google Play with the same Google Play account that bought it.

An android device that does not have the Google Play store like Amazon fire tablets, that same purchase can’t be used because those devices use the Amazon app store.

( for Windows BTW you can user PMP which is free https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/#plex-app )

Ive tryed on my laptop already the Plex Media Player for Windows from Plex website , but somehow i find it lagging much in the menu , not that smooth like the one ive downloaded from the Windows Store.

About the android , that means , if i purchase the activation on google play with signed in with my " 1x Email " and when i use this same email on another device , and download the plex app , it will be activated , if im now get this right , im Gogin to get this activation , maybe latter one for my Laptop because somehow it fits better to me !

Think of it this way. If you buy a Coke from McDonalds. You can get free refills when you are in that McDonalds. You can’t go across the street to Burger King and get free refills of Coke from them.

So McDonalds = Plex and my Coke = google play account ?

mcdonalds = google play store account

Plex= coke

You decide where to buy it. if you buy it from one place you cannot get it free from another place.

Sure thing , Google play store and windows store is not the same account.
What i would like to know is , when i purchase it on google play wich is for android , can i use it on all my android devices as i use the same account , and if i buy it on Windows Store , can i use it on all my PC , Laptops that are on the same account too for the Microsoft stuff ?

Thas all i would like to know for now. If it’s that posible , i would be pleasured to move on to both sides and get me the activation , one for google account and one for Microsoft account , that arround 10€ both and it’s really nothing what the PLEX app actually doing and delivering to me…

yes that is how it works

Ok, first thing you should understand is that buying the APP activation is completely different from the PLEX PASS.

The app activation is for MOBILE apps so they can play local files with no time limit.

Plex pass is primarily for the SERVER, but also unlocks all the clients that are logged into the same PLEX account (not your google or apple or whatever account).

yes

I am not sure there is any windows app activation, but if there is, then yes you should be able to work wherever you login with your windows store login.

there is a lot of info in the plex info base, please check out @ https://support.plex.tv/articles/202526943-plex-free-vs-paid/

The thing is why i want to purchase those activation is , my phone , my tablet’s , or my laptop are mostly with me and sometimes i wana hang out somewhere out and watch the movies from my PC , wich i see i can , but only for 1 min or soo then it stops , whats why i would like to give this a “GO” because i like the plex apps on both android devices and the windows version on Microsoft , server "the one without a pass " gives me exactly enought what i need so i think i would solve my problem by spending those 10€ for both just to be able to watch movies on my devices without the limitation.

Should i go for this ?

sure activating the app would let you connect to your home as long as you setup a manual connection and your ip stays the same, or you have a home domain name, and the proper port mappings etc are setup.

activating the app gets rid of the time limit.

plex pass does all the other stuff listed at above link

still not sure what you need to activate with the windows app, it should work fine as far as i know without buying ?

If he is signed into server the Plex.tv will act as a sort of dynamic DNS that the server will update if his IP changes.

The app from the Microsoft app store is not free. It needs to be bought just like the app Android or iOS mobile apps.

gotcha! dont think I ever used the windows store plex app.

for others reference

This is the Windows 10 Store Versioin , and it shows this when you watching something and getting amove 1min. Same like on the Android Phone Version , even the Windows 10 version runs at same network , but for some reason i find the Windows 10 version runs so fast compare ot the Desctop version on Plex
