Hey there. I’ve recently signed up for the lifetime Plex Pass and picked up an iPad Mini purely for watching shows at the gym.
My goal was to…
- Put content in Plex
- Sync the content to my iPad
- Go to the internet-free gym and watch the content
- Delete the content, freeing up space
- Return home, download more content
- Wash, repeat
That being said, I seem to have issues actually “deleting” the content. I go to the Sync button, swipe right, and delete stuff. My space available doesn’t shrink, nor does the content disappear (I can play stuff that’s “deleted”).
I just want episodes to not be on my tablet once I’ve watched them… help?
You are doing it correctly.
I think the not iOS deleting content bug is back as I’m not getting space back either!
When you mark synced content to be deleted on the device it is not deleted imediately. I’m fairly sure (although not been through the logs in detail) that this simply marks the content as “ready to be deleted” and it is actually tidied up later during the next sync with the server.
I’ve deleted several synced shows over the past few days and despite this and several manual syncs while at home, I now have no free space left on my 32gb iPad. I don’t even sync my icloud photos to my iPad.
This happened to me 2 weeks ago and I had to delete Plex from my iPad to regain the space.
Ok that’s just weird, I got home tonight and deleted a watched show, hit sync and all of a sudden I got back 7.7 GB of free space. Plex obviously just tidied up all the previously deleted shows from yesterday, because that one show is only 1 GB on my server and was synced at medium quality!
That’s really daft, Plex should just dam well delete synced content when told to, not when it feels like it!
