Downloads don’t seem to have any way of removing them from the device.
Sync’ed content, even though there are options to delete content both per item and “Delete All Content”, neither actually deletes the content.
There is now 75GB on my phone that I can not remove. Next step is just to remove the plex player completely.
My wife has the same issue on both her phone and iPad.
I know sync is supposedly going away in December, but it is still way too unstable to use currently. About 30% of content will fail to download. Some will download, but takes multiple tries. Having to leave plex on download/items while it downloads is a poor user experience.
I don’t understand what is happening over there at Plex, but with the iOS release being nearly unusable, and android tv client being completely unusable, it seems plex as a company is trying desperately to kill itself off. These things worked for years, and in the past year, both major clients have dropped so far in quality that even though I have a lifetime plex pass, it has me looking for alternatives.
Agreed - Downloads is nowhere near ready to replace Sync (which always worked fine for me anyway.) That combined with the fact that Downloads won’t work for shared users unless they have a Plex Pass… Just not a good look for Plex, IMO.
“Hey, we know people have complained about this feature forever, so instead of fixing it, let’s roll out a different feature that attempts to do the same thing, but make sure that more people need to pay to use it.”
Agreed that the clients need some serious work, especially Android/Android TV. I wonder if it would help for them to split out the Android TV app from the Android mobile app…
I use Emby/Jellyfin whenever the Plex app on my Shield inevitably craps out on me randomly.
Came here to report the exact same issue. I downloaded a movie to my iPad mini and there is no option to remove it. I went through my settings on the iPad and noticed that the “allow downloads” toggle switch was enabled by default (definitely not something that I would do). So short of deleting the app from the iPad, I see no way of removing the movie that I have downloaded. C’mon Plex, get your S together.
**EDIT: I found out that you can delete the item downloaded to your device by going to the media file in your library and then tap on the " . . . " option, at the very bottom it gives you the option to delete download. The user interface is definitely not intuitive like it was with the old sync function. Hopefully someone with Plex reads this and changes the download interface to make it more user friendly.
Just saw the announcement on the blog, so I tried it on iPad and had the exactly same issue.
Maybe this is a feature Request, but once I have the episode, movie, library or actually any content… How do I delete them from my device in an easy way if I have no connectivity with the plex server?
I would like to remove an entire season from a series or a movie I already watched with a couple clicks if I need to.
Sync although it was as slow as a nutella waterfall, had some workaround for it.
This is horrible. You have all the downloads in one place, you should be able to delete them there instead of having to try to find them. Dont the people programming this actually use their product?
believe it or not, its “swipe to left”
go to downloads from left menu, put your finger on a season and swipe left.
I’m on android but probably it works on ios too.
