Is plexconnect required for Amazon Fire TV, or is it only needed when using ATV?

Plex connect is only for the ATV, the FireTV has it’s own Plex Client or you can use a DLNA player to access the DLNA server.
Gotcha… so it’s client finds the Plex server on the local network automatically like the XBox does?

The Amazon app should actually find it a lot easier since the Android Apps are able to do local network discovery.
The Xbox One actually has to contact Plex.tv and pull a list of your servers and then attempt to connect to them. So the process is simpler and should be easier without that extra step.
