Hi all! Hoping someone has a good answer for this or has had previous experiences. I’m using amazon’s newest 4k Plus fire TV sticks. I have the same issues across both of them which makes me think it’s the firestick and not the TVs or my network/plex configuration. I don’t have these issues when I use the smart tv (Samsung smart tv) or (LG smart tv). However I hate using them because as you know they are laggy and slow and run like garbage. Now on my fire sticks, they run fast and smooth but I have the following issues with Plex,
1). If a new movie or show is added to my Plex it will not update or show under the “Recently Added” section. The only way I have found to fix this is to literally log out and back into the app. This is becoming something I have to do weekly to refresh new items.
2). This used to be worse and goes through phases where it happens almost every day and then sometimes it won’t happen for months. But essentially, I would turn on a movie or show, Plex would give me a orange spinning wheel for about 3 seconds and then it would play for a short duration and then it would jump backwards or stutter and then a few seconds after that it would close.
3). My third issue is more something I need to ask Amazon as it is 100% on the software/hardware side of the firestick but I will ask here in case anyone has experience with this. Recently, our Firesticks updated which changed the UI quite a bit and ever since we have had this annoying issue where we turn the tv on and the only thing that shows is the top navigation bar. All the apps that are anormall shown below are not showing as its just a black screen. The only way to open plex is to hold down the mic button and have alexa open plex via voice command since I can’t click on it. Or, sometimes the apps will show normally but clicking the app literally does nothing lol. This happens on both my firesticks. Lets just say I have had nothing but headaches using them and I am pretty disappointed overall. Will probably just spend the extra money and switch to apple tvs.
