I tried this also. Thank you though.

It didn’t work for me either until I stopped and restarted Plex on the Shield.

Sounds like you have a different issue, albeit with the same symptoms.

I’m done with Plex. Can’t get support in my own thread and nobody is getting support in the thread below. I’m going to give Emby a try as @Elijah_Baley suggested.

@Elijah_Baley Emby seems great for a personal media collection. I’m going to continue to test it out on Andorid TV and on my phone as I run and drive around. I have no issue paying for it, I just want to test it first. I’d really like to try out the Live TV feature to test it, but it looks like you have to be a Premier member to do so. I’ll look into that further as I test it out. I REALLY want an all in one solution and ditch Plex.

Also, I am running both on the same server and it seems to be fine. Plex is using one physical drive and Emby is using the other five. Resources don’t seem to be an issue, but it is only my wife and me that are using the server.

Thanks for the recommendation.

You can use the monthly ($4.99 I think) Premier subscription to test live TV. That is an inexpensive test.

Also visit the Emby forums, they are very very different than what you find here. The developers actually answer most questions and interactively try to help in most cases. To use a cliché “it is like night and day.”

Did you try reverting to player 8.6.0.20351?
It will most likely fix your issues.

Download and install player version 8.6.0.20351 from here.

Once installed goto the player advanced settings. Allow HDMI Audio Passthrough, Then Also under Advanced. Change Enable New Video Player to OFF. Also set the shield to NOT update plex automatically.

Hope this helps, I dealt with these problems for over a year trying everything until I found this. Plays perfectly with this version.

Thanks. Off hand I don’t know how to install and older version of an Android app, but I’m sure I can figure it out. I’ll give this a try at some point this week and report back.

Aptoide Tv has all the plex player versions.
By clicking on “other versions” if this helps.
