Screenshot of the error message:

This just started a couple days ago. And I have found that if I have another member of my family watching the same station, I no longer get the Watch from start, or watch live window that usually comes up. I ONLY run in to this issue with my Nvidia Shield Pro. Roku’s, my iphone, or plexweb don’t seem affected by this.

I was one server version behind, and so I upgraded to current, and the issue persists.

Another item to note that I found when troubleshooting. I had numerous people all watching the same channel, yet only 1 of my tuner slots was being used? Unless they are all going off of the recording? This was for an NFL football game if that matters. The device in the logs that has the issue is the Nvidia Shield.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

Ok. I just tested something. I have a show running on BBC on plexweb on my pc… I just turned on the shield, and tried to tune in BBC. It gives me the error. It seems that any channel anybody else on my plex is using, will in turn not run on my shield… This is obviously a HUGE problem lol.

Oh, and another issue… Now for some reason, when I tune any channel on the Shield, I get sound for a split second, and then it goes away. If I open the guide up while the channel is streaming, sound comes back just fine.

Bumping this. Would really like to see about getting this issue taken care of.

Still having this issue. Am I missing something here? I could really use support resources as I cannot watch any channels on my nvidia shield that anybody else is currently viewing.

I’m glad you posted. This is EXACTLY the same problem I am having. Let’s work together to find a solution and to keep this post alive!
I’ve found that if I tune to the channel that has an upcoming scheduled recording BEFORE the recording begins, I can tune to the channel and have the DVR recording. But if I wait until AFTER the recording has begun, I cannot tune to the channel and get the same error message you posted above. I have tested this by stopping the recording, and then I can tune in without any problem. Then I start the recording again and am unable to tune in. This only happens on Android TV clients, not the browser-based interface. I will test tomorrow on my Roku TV.

Yes! I even added my old HD Homerun Dual Tuner to my existing HD Homerun EXTEND tuner in Plex just to see if adding more available tuners (4 now, up from 2 before) would help, even though there’s never before been a problem to watch and record live TV with just one tuner.
Nope. That didn’t fix anything.

I just updated to PlexMediaServer-1.32.8.7639-fb6452ebf-x86_64_DSM7 on my Synology. I’ll test again tomorrow and see…

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639-fb6452ebf-x86_64_DSM7
Player Version#: 10.4.0.4781
Tuner Make/Model: HDhomerun EXTEND
Guide/Lineup name: “Local Antenna 1”
Using XMLTV?: I don’t believe so
Channel number/Name: in the error logs, 7.1 CBS is the channel I showed couldn’t be tuned, as it was recording, then switched to 4.1 ABC which you’ll see DID tune (because it wasn’t being recorded) and then I cancelled the recording using the web UI, then attempted to tune to 7.1 CBS again and as expected, it worked this time because it was no longer recording. Although this issue applies to any channel in “Local Antenna 1” that’s being recorded.

Logs attached if possible…

Nice! I am glad that I am not alone. This is SOOO frustrating. I can’t watch football games if anybody else is already watching them. Hopefully somebody from Plex will check our logs, and find root cause. I am thinking about downgrading the plex server version a couple versions.

I am not sure if I can downgrade the android plex client though. Will look in to it.

PLEASE PLEX HELP!

Yes, I have not heard back from Plex for either this post or my other fresh post I started. I forgot I need to test and see if this also happens with the Roku Plex client or if it’s limited to AndroidTV. Have you tried using the web browser UI to watch games that might already have started recording (and that you don’t want to stop the recording of)?

I can’t downgrade (easily) on my Synology Plex server, so I’m just going to live with it until Plex fixes this bug. How can we get Plex to take notice of this or my other post? I guess we just shout into the wind until someone hears us?

I am assuming downgrading versions will not fix this issue right? I have been on 1.32.7.7621 for over 20 days and am just getting this error today.

I believe downgrading to 10.3.0 Plex for Android - #488 by PlexAndroidReleaser fixed my issue. I can’t fully test because of another outstanding bug that hasn’t had a response yet from a Plex Employee. Please let me know if someone can test in full.

@sa2000 could this issue also relate to the fact that it is impossible to find soft a recording currently in progress? ie start watching a scheduled recording from the start after recording had started?

All my roku’s, and web player is just fine. It’s just my one nvidia shield that has this issue. None of my other family members have the issue at all either, though they all have roku’s.

This is where I am leading to believe this issue is as well. I am no longer getting the message to start watching from start, or watch live with my shield. I still do with other devices though.

Oh! Let me try this and report back, thanks.

Tested on some Android TV units outside my network and it is confirmed that the 10.4.0 update broke it. Downgraded two CCwGTV and a Nvidia Shield back to 10.3 and they all worked and could watch something in progress of recording.

OMG - I’m an acronym-hater, but the fact that I very quickly figured that one out means I’m firmly in the subculture of this acronym.

ChromeCastWithGoogleTeleVision?!
Had to break out the TV acro too if I’m being consistent. LOL
