Hi,
After upgrading to Plex Media Server #1.24.5.5173 I am getting the following error on everything in my Plex Media Server “An error occurred loading items to play.”

I have tried to un-install Plex Media Server, Re-Install Plex Media Server, Reboot my PC, Rebuild the database and then finally the only thing that worked was to un-install Plex Media Server and then install version 1-24-4-5081 then I was able to play all items again on my server.

I then tried to do an upgrade to version 1.24.5.5173 and just leave my PC alone for 30 minutes, came back and same thing happened.

Un-installed again and re-installed 1-24-4-5081 and I was able to view media directly from the browser / roku, etc… again.

Has anyone else encountered this?

I am having the same problem. I get the “An error occurred loading items to play.” message when I try to play something from my library on my desktop or Roku, but my library works on my phone and tablet. I have tried repairing the server and checked the integrity of the database but I still can’t use Plex on my desktop or Roku. The only thing that did work was erasing the database and rebuilding it from scratch, but with almost 2000 movies, I really don’t want to spend the time to go through all the posters, backgrounds, and tags again.

That is not something that I want to do also, with almost 20 terabytes of media (movies, music and TV-shows)

Just make sure, if you don’t want to be one of the closed-after-90-days topics, that you come here every day and post a comment. No one from Plex will ever answer you. And no one with any valuable information to add will do so. But it’ll sure piss off the admins who are so aggressive about closing unanswered topics. I’m so glad I don’t pay for this piece of s**t program anymore. I’m a Media Portal guy now.

Bueller… … … …Bueller… … … …Bueller

Told ya. They don’t give a ■■■■ about the users. Remember back in the day when developers actually tested for bugs before pushing out software? Or better yet, actually offered tech support for their poorly written programs?

This is the exact error that is generated in the logs. It looks like the latest “Database updates” royally screwed something up.

This is the error that gets thrown every single time I try to play something using Server #1.24.5.5173

If I un-install Server #1.24.5.5173 and re-install the previous version 1-24-4-5081 then it works just fine.

I was able to get this fixed from Reddit - (1) An error occurred loading items to play : PleX (reddit.com)

I had completely forgotten that I had moved my Plex directory over to a SSD and inside of there the Database was corrupted. I tried to repair, but there was pages and pages of SQL errors, so I tried to use backups that were taken and finally one from 3 months ago worked.
