I have the same problem on my Fire TV, but the Plex app on my 8-year-old Samsung TV plays the file with no problems. I’m running Plex on a local Synology NAS.
Ok
So- Android seems to be broken today.
Working:
Browser
iOS devices (tested on iPhone / iPad)
AppleTV 4K (1st gen)
Not working:
nVidia Shield TV Pro (2019)
Sony XBR-65X900H via Android TV app
Was there an update last night? It was working fine before bed
I noticed this issue today. I can play videos from my laptop (running plex off of a Netgear X10.) My fire tv wont play anything and I get the error “an error occurred while attempting to play this video. please check your connection and try again.” @plex please advise. Thanks.
Aaaaaaaaand Android is back. That was random
Mine is still down. I really think its something to do with my Netgear X10 not updating to the latest plex version.
I don’t think there is a way to manually push it either. This $400 router is becoming very useless.
I have the same exact problem with the same exact set up. PMS on My Cloud Home which cannot be manually updated and running Plex on the Fire TV 4K. It was working flawlessly 2 weeks ago but has stopped ever since.

those are new logs after turning off verbose and restarting the PMS
any update to this @plex? I paid $450 for this Netgear X10 router and can’t even use the plex function that was so HIGHLY advertised. At least give us a reply, even a generic we’re working on it. @plex come on.
@papabearfelix1 Your logs show something odd going on with your network. Plex checks for your IP address in 2 ways. 1 - pinging your router and 2 - the IP listed when contacting Plex.tv. For 1 - PMS is detecting a local IP address instead of a public one. This conflict in IP’s is likely the cause of your issues. Do you have an unusual network setup?
@TalalZiad and @nathan_ramey00_yahoo_com Please provide the logs as requested earlier so I can check what is going on.

Idk whats going on. I upgraded to a 10tb Western Digital Hardrive v.s. two 2 and 3 tb drives. Ever since, I cant access on android devices but I can access content on my Windows Laptop. If yall can figure this out, I would be forever grateful as I have a lot of users that depend on the content I provide. Have a great memorial weekend Plex dudes.
Nop i don’t have an unusual network setup my cloud is connected directly to the router i have a dlink dir-2640 router
What kind of device do you have from your ISP?
Just give a fix. I paid $120 for a plex pass. Honor the money thag we’ve put up and make if work. Teo months ago, we were ripping and my family loved me. @plex. Please advise. Youre software is awesome but us users need some fine tuning. Thank you for all you do.
@nathan_ramey00_yahoo_com There is an error in your log that may be causing this issue. However, it should be affecting all clients, not just Android so not sure if it’s related.
its a dish that connect direct to my router but on laptop plex works its only on my note 8 ,mi box,s10plus,fire tv that it doesn’t work

Plex works with everything except for my Fire TV 4K. From what I am reading, it is clash between Android and My Cloud Home (PMS 1.18.6.2350)
I have the exact same issue, I get the following error “An error occurred while attempting to play this video check the connection and try again”. I have this issue between my Mi Box S and My Cloud Home.
So…no fix till the next update???
I’ve had the same issue with the Android app for a few days too, on an Nvidia Shield TV Pro & Samsung Galaxy Note 9 ; but web browser works fine.
I am in the same group of people getting this error on FireTV stick and My Cloud Home server.
Seems like FireTV Plex app updated (May 24th I think?) and no longer works with the WD My Cloud Home. The vibes I’m getting are that if WD could update the Plex version on their end it would probably solve the problem but they just never do that. I’ve contacted them to express this wish but don’t have my hopes up.
