I was just listening to style radio and I came up with an idea for it that I would really love. How about an option to choose a decade for a specific style?
For instance, when you click on Indie Rock Radio you could have a pop up with a few options: 80s Indie Rock, 90s Indie Rock, 2000s Indie Rock, 2010s Indie Rock, or all of the above (which is the current default).
All you would need to do is limit the tracks that can be included to tracks from albums that were released in years that belong in the decade that was chosen. This would allow further choice for music listeners.
This is a fair suggestion and a good solution for one or two favorite genres or styles, but the perk of what I’m suggesting would be the simplicity of it and (in my view) a better way to handle large libraries with many different genres or styles. This way I wouldn’t need to create 25+ different smart playlists for all of the different genres or styles that I might want to listen to. It’d just be nice to have further customization within the style radio for those of us with very large libraries that span 50+ years.
Again, your solution is really great, but creating smart playlists on mobile is a bit of a challenge (at least for me), and you’re not able to create smart playlists within Plexamp as far as I know, and I don’t really wanna have to get up out of bed to go on my computer to create a smart playlist and then go back to bed in order to listen to more specific eras of a specific genre or style.
i understand… also i just tried… seems like creating a smartplaylist in Plex app on mobile is a bit easier… Music > Library:
click on the filter/beacon icon at the top right albums genre - blues decade - 1960's Save As Smart Playlist
the decades is what makes it easier… no need to do the whole greater than less than.
hopefully this helps to get you by… maybe they’ll refine things though as you suggested.
