It would be nice if the Media Server could analyze the file someone wants play before it shows me that it’s not playable. Or to implement a button where every User could start the analyzation of the wanted file by themselve.
I think some analyzation of the media files does happen when you first add them to your media library.
Let the Plex butler analyze your files.

I don’t understand, Plex does this already… are you asking to find out in advance what files you can’t DIRECT PLAY? Because Plex will simply transcode files that have codec incompatibility with your client…

Due to some bugs in earlier PMS versions, the media analysis in the database can be invalid.
But the butler should take care of that automatically.
Of course it has to have a chance to actually run during the maintenance hours, i.e. the Plex Server device must be running during this time.
What my problem is, I have Plex connected to my Amazon Drive with rclone mount. From time to time it looses the connection and cause of that some media-information from a few files are gone. I have to analyze them by myself or wait until the butler is doing it at night.

There are issues with scanning files on cloud providers, people are asking for the Plex Cloud scanner to be available locally for such scenarios. I’ll try to find the link.
