Finally back at Plex, feels good.
So, as the title of this thread says: I cannot start media analysis for TV shows or seasons. It’s only working on the episodes level.
As I wanted to have video preview thumbnails generated for all my shows as well, it would be kind of a struggle to do this for ~50k episodes manually.
Is there anything I’m not seeing or missing?
Any hint would be highly appreciated.

are you sure you have thumbs enabled for the library and have adjusted the settings for when VPTs are generated?
“When media is added AND during scheduled maintenance” should do the trick with a show, or library analyze. It may take some time to complete the analysis and VPTs will, of course, take a while.
Don’t forget to Save.

Yup. VPT is enabled for Shows, I just double checked. And also I have it set to during maintenance and when media is added. Just double checked as well.
They’re getting generated as well, when adding episodes, but the analyze button just seems not to trigger the task for me 
Also, like I mentioned, it’s working on the episodes level, but not for entire seasons or shows
Tried scanning that library again?
Also, empty trash, clean bundles, optimize the database… then re-analyze, that might kick Plex into action.
Also make sure you’re on the very latest PMS. There was an issue with Analyze not that long ago that was fixed.
I’m going to do that again, thanks. But I just did the troubleshooting options from the server and I’m on the latest PMS (beta / Plex Pass) version : (
The Analyze button will only trigger the thumbnail generation for single videos.
If you need it for a whole show, leave that to the Butler.

I figured so. Is there anything I can do to have it portioned? Like, you know, having it done all at once for 50.000 episodes is taking forever. It would be cool if there was any solution to have it being done in tiny bits instead of the whole library. But I’ll just do it for the episodes then manually I guess 
But that’s a downer that it’s not working for an entire show :’(

It won’t. There is a time frame you can define, within which Plex will do maintenance. Among those maintenance tasks is the creation of missing video thumbs.
So pick one where your server is free from other tasks (e.g. late night, early morning or noon, while you’re at work)

Yeah sure that’s a good point haha. Alright thanks then! I was just looking for a bit more flexibility. I know that it’s done in the scheduled maintenance hihi. But thanks guys, you helped a lot and I’m back at thumbnails then
