Android / Android TV - Support split files

the iOS version also does this, so it seems like Android has just been forgotten here

That’s unfortunate that they won’t agree this is a bug, when it works correctly for web browsers, iOS, and Roku, but not Android.

Agree, it should be a bug and not a feature request, for it worked in the legacy android player. but sadly now you are not able to toggle between the players and forced to use the new player (which also sadly no longer list the date either, and has random freezes when starting next episode in the playlist, three reason the old player was better).

Yo plex employees.

Previously working feature, that is also available on other clients = bug.

Feature that was never implemented but would be useful = feature request.

Surely that can’t be too difficult to understand.

This is the former.

In the newest beta of the Android and Android TV Plex player app, the following is posted:

Player: support for multi-part media

High five for the developers… anyone access to that beta app to test it?

You can download the app from the announcement thread and sideload it.

You can also enter/leave the beta program via the Google Play store.

I was excited to find this thread, but frustrated that a fix hasn’t been implemented yet, so I found the OTHER thread to merge the multipart files. However, when I did so, it was discovered that the movie that had been classified as a movie in my db for years (the 1995 BBC Pride & Prejudice) is no longer classified that way, and I had to move it to TV Shows. And change the naming schema. And rather than merging, it is now recommend to split it all up.

I’m not a drinker, but this sounds like a Jack Daniels kind of issue.

Plex – any updates on this bug?

Update to 8.15.

See release notes in announcement section of forum for details.

This has now been implemented.
