Android App Remote Volume Control

Ive got a rasp pi3 running rasplex, and its all working perfectly (mostly).
the only issue is volume control via the android app when playing music, it just doesnt work

When playing music on the rasplex(which is connected to my amplifier in garage and plays over ceiling speakers in house) I can start, stop, play, pause, skip etc from the android app, but I cant control the volume, I just get this error message as attached (Volume not supported)(/uploads/default/original/3X/e/1/e10cb910f1396a0ebf62f40c8aac146010acb9d5.png “”)

The strange part is, I can control the volume of a video when thats playing, so my current workaround is to just start a video, adjust the volume, then go back to my music, but its a bit of a pain.

I tested this morning opening the app on my tablet and remote controlling that from my phone, and the volume control works, so I updated rasplex to the latest version, but its still no go.

surely, if its possible to control the volume in a video, its possible in music?

any pointers?

Any Ideas anyone? Ive done some further testing and found the following:

Music Player Volume Control:

Android app -> Android App : OK
Android App -> Plex Chrome App: OK
Android App -> Chromecast : OK
Android App -> Rasplex : Not Working
Android App -> OpenPHT on Windows: Not Working
Plex Chrome App -> Anything: OK

It all works fine in videos, the problem is only in the music player

Same problem here.
Additional info: I can control the volume via web app but not via android app.

I am having this problem at the moment, Did you find any fix for this? I have the new Rasplex release and the android app 5.7.0.173

Same problem as kooadmin and the others, my RasPlex release in RasPlex-1.8.0.148-573b6d73-RPi2.arm.img,
my Android app is 5.6.1.505

Other info: the Pi (“embedded”) download from the Plex site contained in file
PlexMediaPlayer-1.2.3.623-59a54305.RPi2-arm.img

  • presumely an older release - does support volume control.

No answers giveni in this thread since December 2016?
