Android Auto ignoring Prefer downloaded content?

Server Version#: 1.32.0.6918

I wonder if anyone has noticed Android Auto playing music ignoring the Prefer downloaded content setting?

I went on a trip and spent many hours listening to music through Android Auto, only to get a warning that Plex had eaten many gigs of mobile data, even though all of the music I was playing had been synced to the phone ahead of time.

In the forums I see that this is normally a cosmetic issue, but the media is really playing from the phone. In my case, though, I’m looking at the actual bandwidth report from my phone, showing that Plex definitely ate it.

So maybe Android Auto made the difference, and AA ignores that setting?

A very similar issue here and I am not even playing Plex. But when I launch Android Auto, Plex appears to run in the background and eats up about .5GB of my bandwidth.

Attached are the sever logs during that period that I observed this download behavior.

@sethura4 thanks!

I wonder how we can get some attention for your report since you actually took the time to get the server log.

Your reply is more of a bug report than mine was, so I wish I knew how to flag a developer here to have a lot at it.
