It would be wonderful if the Android Mobile app had the ability to Zoom/Crop/Scale videos so that extremely “widescreen” videos could be zoomed in or cropped so that the entire screen would be utilized without the upper and lower horizontal black bars. Other media players such as MX Player Pro have this functionality, however I do not want to use this as an external media viewer as I want my viewing status to be synchronized with Plex.
A year and a half later, any word on the possibility of this team? Playing 16:9 media on the recent 18:9 devices would be nicer with a little bit of cropped zoom ala Netflix/VLC.
Please add feature of zoom/crop to plex it would be very appreciated.
Just going to throw my hat into this. I Just don’t bother watching movies with my phone because of the lack of zoom like youtube. Black bars on ALL sides is unacceptable
Exactly!!! Pls add zoon in in android app!!!
Wow, I can’t believe that it’s been more than 2 years since I asked for this and it still hasn’t happened, I get that things need votes but don’t you think they should eventually happen when the devs have nothing to do?
Needed desperately! Such a standard video player feature thats missing from both mobile and pc as device screens come in all shapes and sizes.
A year later and still nothing?
Guess Plex is too busy trying to monetize with useless services rather than focusing on their core users…
So sometime last year the app gained a 3-dot menu on the play screen which gave access to some zoom/crop/letterbox features. I did a data wipe of the app the other day to try and fix sync issues I was having and the options reverted to the older style with no zoom options. It’s still there on my iPad and on my Android tablet, but gone from my phone. Anyone else seeing/not seeing the options now?
