So my Android app updated behind the scenes a couple of weeks ago. Since then it’s been a painful experience. I’m sure all of this stuff is mentioned in other posts, but I’m not going looking for it, and it’s no harm flooding the forum with separate threads about these, rather than a single thread that sinks into the abyss over time.
While watching vids on Plex on my mobile the following BS happens:
Frequently getting the Play Queue appearing across the bottom third of the screen when video is playing. I must be swiping in a certain way to get it to appear, but I’ll be damned if I can find a way to get rid of it without pressing back to the previous screen and starting the video again. Wtf is that about? Put a close/X option on the damn thing.
Often, and I’ve no idea what’s triggering it, when I hit the device home button while a video is playing I get the minimized video window as intended. But now, a control overlay is showing over the video with a giant pause/II icon over it. Again, the only way to get rid of this is stopping the video and starting again.
When the video is in minimized mode, and I pull it down to the bin section of screen, that used to stop playback all of the time. Now, it does it some of the time. The rest of the time the video keeps playing in background. Even closing the app doesn’t stop playback. It just keeps right on playing…wtf?
I get development is hard. I get testing performance on each potential device is impossible. But this is head wrecking. My previous version was close to flawless, this is a huge step back.
Devs are aware of the first bug you described. The second one happens to me too. I think the third one happened to me but it hasn’t been frequent enough for me to care.
1 - you are dragging up on the screen which brings up the queue. You need to drag down from within the queue area, i.e. one of the images, to close it.
2 - have not noticed this
3 - what version are you on. There is a fix for the playing in background bug in the latest beta. I haven’t checked if that’s in public yet.
This does not work for me if swiping up to invoke the chapters/queue.
For the other issues i have been trying to reproduce. I did get the mini player once to basically show what appeared to be a cropped version of full video which may be what OP is seeing. Trying to repro more reliably.
Pulling up on the screen reliably brings up the episode/ chapter menu for me. My point was that to get rid of it i have to swipe from within that area. Swiping from say the top of the screen doesn’t do anything.
PiP work fine for me, even the controls. Samsung S22, Plex 2026.8.0.
