This TV is Android based, so I went on Google Play to download the Plex App.
Config was lightning fast, and then I started watching a 720p movie.
During the movie, it occurred about 8 times that the movie stopped playing and the Plex App reported being unable to reach the server… I kept retrying and after a good 3 to 4 minutes, it would resume playing.
The Plex Server is on the same network.
I would like to know how to find out where the problem comes from.
I don’t think it’s the server because I’ve been streaming 1080p movies over INTERNET from outside of my home.
I don’t think it’s the WiFi router because I have a Intel NUC on another TV and it streams the same content, no problem.
Could it be the TV itself? The WiFi card? The Android Plex App? What do you guys think?
Does the TV have an Ethernet jack? I always recommend eliminating wifi as a potential culprit before anything else. My personal experiences with wifi have been all over the map in terms of performance and reliability. The differences in wifi modes, chipset features, etc. makes my head spin sometimes. For me, a quick test with a 50 or 100 foot Ethernet cable always helps me get to the bottom of wifi problems… It’s a minor investment and I’m not saying to leave a cable running through your living room carpet, but hey, it may be worth a shot for testing…
Also, what version of PMS are you running. I’ve had similar issues with Android devices and older version of PMS, but the latest (0.9.14.4) seems to have resolved it all for me.

Yup you’re right but the problem is there’s no way (yet) I can plug it with ethernet given the location of the TV.

Well I did update PMS.
I think it did help, but did not fix my problem completely.
I’m trying to figure out how to pass 50FT ethernet cable without destroying everything in the house so I can at least eliminate this potential cause.
