I have Samsung Tablet and Pixel phone with the same version of the Plex App installed. Samsung tablet is playing everything at 328p through the app. Pixel is direct playing all the same files. Using Plex Web on the tablet and I get direct play at original quality.
*Edit - Solution found - Had to set hotspot to unmetered on my tablet.
For the tablet are you connecting on the same network or using mobile data?
Apologies, I meant to include that information. My Pixel was on cellular data, and my tablet was connected to my Pixel’s hotspot. All the settings were set to max quality and limit cellular data was off. I also checked that phone and tablet quality settings were the same. On home wifi, everything plays at full resolution.
Also posted on r/plex and solution was to make sure my hotspot was set to unmetered on my tablet.
Which leads me to the question, why isn’t there a setting for quality over a metered network? Defaulting to 320p seems a bit excessive.
