I got a Philips android tv. Most of my content has AC3 audio. Im only planning to use the TV speakers. When playing the content i dont get the correct sound. How do i put this to stereo?
I think I may have the same issue as you. It’s not remuxing the audio into stereo as me. So anything with 5.1 or 7.1 I’m missing most of the speech tracks for.
It may be that your TV cannot decode AC3 audio. Generally AAC audio is more acceptable and easier to decode by most smart TV’s.
I’m assuming you have “Direct Stream” enabled through the Plex app on the TV, correct? If not, you should as this will help with trying to transcode the audio into a capable audio that your TV can play.

Edit: Mind also sharing which Philips TV model you have so we can lookup the specs?

As far as I can see there’s no direct stream option. I’ve set everything to maximum etc.

Yeah, i have tried to set everything to maximum, its a limited amount of setting in the Plex app for android tv. It really sucks that i have to run Plex through Kodi to get it to work properly. I also got a Philips tv (PUS7354/12)

I have the same problem with the 43PUS7304.
Streaming from Plex android app to Chromecast works.
Playing directly from Plex app on the TV does not.
Hoping it’s something that can be fixed soon
I have the same problem with an Android box attached to a cheap TV
AC3 plays fine through the Android box to the TV speakers
AC3 does not play through the Android box to bluetooth headset.
AC3 5.1 does not play through the Android box to the TV speakers
AC3 and AC3 5.1 plays fine on Roku or Firestick to TV.
I use the Plex-app directly on my Philips 55PUS7354 (2019-model) and it works fine. Playing on my amplifier through HDMI ARC. In the Philips TV-menu I have set the audio to multichannel direct.
But I have another issue with it, the sound stops after a couple of hours, then I have to reboot the TV to get it working again. Hope it will be fixed in an update soon!

Are you outputting 5.1 or higher?
Maybe your amp is doing the conversion to stereo if not.
In finding that some files work fine and others don’t. I need to make a note and then generate some logs of those files playing.
Sounds strange. Do you also have the same problem as me? That the TV dosent convert sound to stereo, when playing sound from the TV speakers?
Yeah me2. Im using the plex addon inside the kodi app, and have configured it to start automatically when starting up the kodi app. But i really hope the Plex app will get an update soon, because the plex addon inside the kodi app dosent have the same great interface as the original Plex app
