There seems to be something wrong with DTS playback on the Nvidia Shield for the 2017 model on the new Beta for Android TV, the one that includes the new cast and crew info.
This client is hooked up to a TV via HDMI, the TV has limited audio codec support and generally needs to transcode any multi channel streams (AC3 5.1 or DTS 5.1) however stereo AC3 or DTS playback is direct.
What I am finding now is stereo HD DTS is giving a message that says Direct Play failed transcoding but I get no audio.
5.1 DTS does the something transcodes but I get no audio.
Direct play of stereo DTS has worked like a charm for years and when 5.1 audio was transcoded it was a bit soft but I could just turn up the volume.

I have tried this on the Nvidia Shield 2019 that is hooked up to an AVR in the living room and DTS playback is happening as it should. So this seems like an issue for set ups without an AVR.
