In the latest version of Plex for Android TV you can select the headshots of individual cast members when in detail view for a title, and you can “click” one which will cause it to briefly expand, however nothing happens. I would expect this to search for other titles featuring that cast member.
Known issue. It has never worked in any version of Plex Android/Android TV app. Unknown if/when the capability will exist (Plex does not release product plans).
I just bought a NVIDIA Shield Pro and I also noticed that selecting actors pictures leads nowhere.
I was really surprised by this because I am new to Android TV and this has been working for ages in Plex for PC, Plex for IOS and Plex web.
This is apparently a known issue but what surprises me is that the official Plex for Kodi add-on version 0.3.4 developed by Plex does the job very well:
I actually think it works much better in Plex for Kodi because it can show you where the actor is related to ALL libraries (not only the one you are currently using), which is absolutely brilliant! I love it! 
Unfortunately Plex for Kodi has some rather serious issues for me (cannot play music at all) so I hope this nice feature can be implemented as well in the coming versions of Plex Android TV soon.
