Most apps on Android TV (Netflix, Amazon etc.) are single click pause or play with OK button. (many remotes lack dedicated pause/play)
Can we have an option for this ? OK for play/pause and UP button for timeline.
I want Plex to adopt what all other streaming apps have done on TV native apps (and on Android TV for my Shield) and move to pausing on the first press of the OK button. All the other services used to be the same and you had to press the OK button to bring up on screen controls then press again to pause.
Of course as TV manufacturers slowly removed the Play/Pause/Stop media control buttons in favour of ever more streaming service shortcut buttons, we now rely on the OK button to interact with anything that is playing. The fact that Disney, Netflix, iPlayer and others changed and now immediately pause when you press OK while also bringing up an overlay seems way better. You can still press down while playing to bring up the time bar overlay without pausing which makes sense to see how long it has left.
So only the Plex app on my LG has stuck with this outdated double press to pause method and I want it to be changed in line with every other app please.
Can the player pause and play by simply clicking anywhere on the screen like it does in Windows, please.
Bit fiddly when I quickly have to pause the video and having to click once to open the bottom draw and then the play/pause button in it. The Windows version works better with that.

This is one of things that I found really strange with Plex.
This feature seems like a small thing, but goes a long way to improve usability.
All the leading streaming services, that put user experience at one of their top priorities (Prime, Netflix, Disney…) do not require a second click to pause/resume.
Is there any other reason anyone would click the select/okay button while watching a movie/show?
Most remotes have some kind of “joystick” at the middle of the remote with the middle being a select, left/right toggle to rewind/forward etc…
How does this only have five votes!?!
Every other streaming service and the Plex for XBox and (I think) Apple TV pause and resume with a single click of the center button. I have no idea why on Android it brings up the interface and then you have click a second time to actually pause.
Is this a tiny little complaint? Hell yes, but it really is annoying to just have one streaming app that acts differently. It really shouldn’t even take much to fix either, right? Maybe 15 minutes of coding to fix it?
How do we raise the visibility of this issue? I’m certain that more than 5 people are bothered by it and
