Server Version#: 1.18.7.2438 (on DS918+)

Since it’s not a server issue (logs just said client terminated), here’s the network log in a pastebin: https://pastebin.com/UzH9W97H
Basically, on (2) Android TV’s it won’t start playing the movie/serie and gives a “sorry something went wrong” error… So far I’ve seen it do this with .srt and MOV_TEXT.
This only started happening recently. It’s for an old man (his account atm) of 74 that cannot understand English and has to have subs on, so it kinda sucks that he’s unable to watch anything.
Chuck closed my previous topic because he claimed I didn’t reply fast enough (10h)… Yet I had to wait 17(!) days for a single reply.
He also claimed that I posted this in the Synology corner, yet I posted this in Plex Players → Smart TVs, with AndroidTV and Synology as tags attached to it. BIG DIFFERENCE!!!
The issue still stands and my logs are correct, it happens with every kind of server so the issue lies with the AndroidTV client, how it handles playback, not the servers themselves.
This is something I’ve found out after I posted, thus I should’ve removed the tag, that was my bad.
Really unprofessionally how this got shoved aside in the last topic.
Here’s another topic related to the same issue that has been going on for OVER A YEAR!!
I can upload a log if you like but I’m having pretty much same issues like you do… Except I’m running PMS on unraid in docker (linuxserver version). I tested this with multiple clients and Android TV only is having this issue… I hope this gonna get fixed soon because this is really annoying…
Your log shows that the player doesn’t like the file. I couldn’t tell but check if you have the “new player” enabled. If so, try turning that off. We’d had some reports of that not working on devices.
Same started happening to me (and worse, way worse, my wife) very recently - if subs (srt in our case) are enabled from the ‘title’ screen, pressing playback gives the blueish screen with spinner for a bit, then a kind request to restart both client (hard, on android tv) and server (impossible for mrs). Also it doesn’t help.
Workaround for now: start without srt, then enable srt when playing.
Philips 55" OLED (9002) , latest software, latest (windows) server version of plex server.
Pretty sure I’m using the ‘new player’.
I also have the 55PUS7303, sounds like it could be Philips issue but other people in my home are also experiencing this problem on other Android TV devices (Sony TV and Xiaomi mi box s). Switching to the old player did the trick but it is automatically switching on again. Not every time on restart but occasionally. When the new player was introduced I experienced this before. My guess is that this gave issues again after a few updates.
And yes this is difficult to explain to other users in my home also. I’m trying to make a “how to” video about it so other users can be notified about this issue and do the workaround by them self.
I find it strange that I can’t find anymore threads about it. I can find threads about Plex not working and they eventually find out that this is the problem but I can’t find any good solutions other then switching to the old player.
Ah indeed, the issue before with the old player not working was actually an issue with Synology NAS specifically. That’s why before, both the new and old one wouldn’t work. The old one works now.
Still, what changed that suddenly the new player stopped working, whereas before it has worked flawless for months?
And yeah, the other topic is on point with it too… Shameful how nobody from Plex staff seems to care, yet take all their money…
